Sunday 30th June – The Morton Quaich

18 played on a breezy, grey morning that was cold for March let alone the end of June. Golfing conditions were fine though with the greens putting straight and true and as fast as many of us could remember. A score around par figures was quite an achievement and net par itself was enough to give Robbie McNaught the trophy, pipping Stan Rainey on a countback.

19 played in the first of our charity support opens of 2024 and just back from a refreshing holiday on the Cote D’Argyll, Dougie Auld took to the course like he’d never been away to record a winning score of 36 points.

Sunday 19th June – The Ballantyne Cup

A fine day drew a field of 22 for the 2024 edition of the Ballantyne Cup, one of our oldest trophies, dating as it does from 1909. Any advantage to be gained from the generous pin positions was perhaps cancelled out by the speed of the greens – coming to their best just now – and with a notable exception, scoring was steady rather than spectacular. That one exception was Jamie Stewart who carded a scratch 60 – 3 under par – to return a  score of 57 and win by 6 from his nearest challenge. Superb golf Jamie, many congratulations
