If the forecasts were to be believed, Saturday was going to be the only dry day of the weekend. Stewart had cut the greens early in the morning and they were putting beautifully – fast and true – but a chilling northerly breeze added to the fast greens made scoring extremely difficult. So much so that the winning score of 34 points was 4 down on the opening round of last year’s competition. In fairness, David Morrison was heading for better until an unfortunate closing hole rendered him ‘nil points’. Still, his 34 points were enough to win by one point from Jamie Macpherson.

Happily, the rain forecast came to nothing and scoring was better than day 1. Ronnie Mann improved on his Saturday score by 6 points to win by 1 point with Neillie McKechnie in second place.

The 2024 WBGC Senior Gents Open Champion is Ronnie Mann with a combined two day total of 70 points. Because of his advancing years, he also wins the Super Seniors (over 65) category. Congratulations Ronnie on your second seniors open title.
