Saturday 8th April – The WBGC Masters Par 3 Family Competition
A beautiful Easter Saturday drew a crowd of well over 60 players for our inaugural Masters Par 3 Competition and all enjoyed a fun round of golf and the clubhouse entertainment before and after. In fact the day was more about fun than golf and the pre golf cocktails and mocktails played no small part in getting the proceedings off to a great start. Our grateful thanks to Eilidh Macpherson and Ellie Bonnar for their expertise in the mixing and dispensing. The Easter Egg hunt was enjoyed by all the youngsters and each one of them went away with at least one egg – or ate one on the spot!
As for the golf Dougie Auld pipped Stan Rainey to first place on a countback with both scoring net 52s. He now has the privilege of wearing the coveted green hat (we couldn’t stretch to a jacket) for the remainder of the season. Charlie Taylor won the ladies prize on net 57 with Jackie Sillars runner up on net 59. Ronnie Mann’s grandson won the junior section and Geraldine Mann won the prize for the best score by a golfer without an official handicap. The youngest player was Fergus Talty, only 6 years old but managed to complete the course with a very respectable 106. Well done young man.
As always, Stewart had the course in fine shape and John and the clubhouse staff catered superbly to the needs of an exceptionally busy clubhouse. Our grateful thanks to all of them.
Thanks to all who contributed to what was a great success and one we hope to repeat as an annual event.
See you next year.
Here’s a selection of photos of a great day at WBGC.
